So why the Gumball Factory?
I've always loved gum. I've been told a variety of things about it - that it's bad for your jaw, it's good for your jaw, and that you should only have the kind that use xylitol. But more than anything, gum gives me something to chew on.
And this is what I hope this website will do for you.
You see, chewing gum is never a conscious activity (unless you're really, really bored). It goes on in the background, a quiet hum while the the real action takes place elsewhere. Our thoughts are much the same: we rarely consciously act on them, but they're always going on in the background. We're always chewing on something. That movie you saw last night; the argument you know you won; the million questions you have for those sidewalk lobbyists.
I've always wanted to start a blog, but the hang-up remained the same: what could I consistently write about? I tried to make everything too conscious, too specific and limiting. It took me a long time to realize that my best thoughts are the ones that quietly work in the background. My best writing is done while I'm chewing.
I will be writing about all manner of things - movies, books, articles, food, fitness, Life - whatever strikes me at the time and has me thinking. I hate to get bogged down in details, so don't expect plot summaries or character descriptions. I'm simply going to be talking about the essence of the thing.
Enjoy the gum. Enjoy the flavors. Chew what you want and discard the rest.
Take care and hope you enjoy the ride.
